Mari's Magics

As I was unable to attend last night's fireworks at Livingtree (SLurl), a weekly event during the Summer months, so I was pleased to see that my buddy Zyx Flux posted some images to her MySL account. Here are a few and some of her commentary.

"Ha! Can't get me!!"
Looks like she put herself in a safety bubble. With Marianne McCann behind the controls this was probably prudent.

"Mari and the magic dancing. That must be how she does this."
Looks like Mari needed a bubble, too, as it seems she caught on fire.

"I don't know how Mari does without a bubble. Or sees. Breathes."
Mari is an experienced pyro and can probably hold her breath for really long times.

"No screen is big enough."
Zyx is right. It is hard to see the whole show so camming around is best if lag permits.

"The Rainbow is the end of the show."
Yes, the saddest rainbow in Second Life because it means the show is over but there's another in a week. Visit Livingtree (SLurl) Saturdays at 8PM SLT.

Bay City Party May 18th!

BAY CITY TURNS SIX THIS SUNDAY

Celebrating Bay City's Sixth Anniversary in Second Life®

BAY CITY, SL (17 May, 2014) - This Sunday, the 18th of May, 2014, Bay City celebrates its sixth anniversary as part of the Second Life Grid™.

The celebration will start at noon SLT/PDT, with a parade lineup at the bandshell in Bay City - Harwich (SLurl). The parade will make its way down Route 66 beginning at 12:30 p.m. SLT/PDT, concluding at the Bay City Fairgrounds in the North Channel region (SLurl).

A live concert will kick off at 1:30 p.m. SLT/PDT at the Fairgrounds, featuring Christov Kohnke, Ultraviolet Alter, and Winston Ackland, and including GoSpeed Racer of KONA Stream providing music leading into the event.

All Residents of the Second Life grid are encouraged to participate.Posters, banners, parade float bases, and other goods are available at the Bay City Community Center, in the Daley Bay region, for those who wish to be a part of the parade, and able viewing area is provided. The music event is also open to all who desire to attend.

The event is dedicated to recently passed Bay City Resident Ever Dreamscape, who had helped arrange this and many other Bay City events since she came to Bay City in 2011. Bay City is a mainland community, developed by Linden Lab™ and home to the Bay City Alliance. The Bay City Alliance was founded in 2008 to promote the Bay City regions of Second Life™ and provide a venue for Bay City Residents and other interested parties to socialize and network. It is now the largest Bay city group, and home to most Residents of Bay City.

Bay City's 5th Anniversary - May 19th

There I am, enjoying a sunny Caturday and patiently waiting at the Fairgrounds for the Bay City 5th Anniversary Party, but it starts at about 1:00pm SLT tomorrow (May 19th), after the parade starting in Bay City - Harwich (SLurl) arrives at the Fairgrounds (SLurl). Entertainment will include GoSpeed Racer, Christov Kohnke, Celticmaidenwarrior Lancaster, and Rosedrop Rust. Don't be surprised if other popular groups famous around Second Life show up, too, in addition to some well-known Lindens and LDPW moles. And you know that wherever Marianne McCann goes, fireworks follow.

As you can see from this map (below), there will be several prime viewing places for the lead-up parade. Four groups will leave from the Bandshell and head out toward Route 66 at Noon SLT. The procession should last about half an hour from start to finish.

There's going to be lots of fun for everyone, whether you are a Bay City resident or not, so be sure to drop in before 1:30pm SLT when we are supposed to wrap up things. While you are waiting for the fun to start, check out the LDPW scrapbook about the building of Our Fair City.

Mole Day Reminder

Caturday will be on hold this week while we celebrate Mole Day in Second Life. What? "Mole Day?"

Come join the fun at the Bay City Fairgrounds (SLurl). GoSpeed Racer will DJ from this lovely, custom stage built by Marianne McCann so be ready to dance your butt off! Who knows, you might even meet some of the LDPW moles in person!

A Sister in Need

This graphic says it all. Well, almost all. I'm seriously depressed so I'm pouring lots of energy into making the fundraising a success. I built a specially-themed club for use and continuing to make hats, shirts, and other things to give away. Ladies are invited to the Isle (SLurl) anytime, not just event times, to help with generous donations. Gentlemen are welcome to help, too, at the Lesbos mall donation spot (SLurl). Look for the big "thermometer" in either location.

Memorial Park Memory

When my PC laptop died I had scattered and limited backups so quite a few things are gone forever. This image turned up, much to my giggly pleasure, for this goes way back into my life in our virtual world. The Memorial Park in Nangrim was on it's way to being huge and I had my first in-world girlfriend. We had invited a couple friends to just relax in the Park with some Classical music on the stream. Someone put on wings and started dancing so we all put on wings and danced. Then someone released particles and the clothes started coming off. It was a beautiful night. We danced and made small talk and just enjoyed being there for quite some time. Serendipity. Happy serendipity.

Some of the the things I do

Semi-unofficially -- mostly because no one has stopped me -- I build things and add activities at the Isle of Lesbos (IOL), often getting approval after the fact. Like the skydiving center. At one time it was an attraction in the IOL Mall sim. When the mall was recently redesigned and rebuilt there was no provision for sky diving so I simply added it to the main Isle. No one said take it out so I left it there with only minor tweaks here and there. Sensing no further objections I beefed it up today. That is a genuine Cubey Terra jump chair in the foreground. The original base jump at 300 meters (250m above target) is still in place and like nearly all activities on the Isle, the facility is free to use. In the background you can see the free ice skating pond I built.

Not free but nonetheless still fun is fishing! After adding the 7Seas Fishing kit to both the mall sim and parts of the main Isle not too long ago and then telling the owner about it, I've been given the go-ahead (and some cash!) to hold fishing contests. This is a picture from one held yesterday. Turnout is usually decent, which is good as the owner hopes this build traffic in the mall sim. I might try increasing the prize and an "all-nakie" tournament is in my mind for the beach on the main Isle. If anyone has suggestions for making the events more fun, drop a note card on me in-world or leave a comment on this post.

I might schedule a nakie fishing tournament before my Nakie Beach Party in June. This party is held the first Saturday of each month from 3-5pm SLT and, of course, it is Ladies-Only. With the nudity and a prize starting at L$3,000 the party is usually popular and sometimes gathers cheaters. The Saturday parties always start with a prize that large, but sometimes they grow. The 17 May party rapidly built up to a L$25,000 prize with over 60 folks attending.

Many of them originally showed up for our big draw, DJ Kuthola Homewood. If you need a music at an event, contact her. She's awesome.
