Of late I've noticed that when avatars around me change from one shape to another, say Tiny to Human, the basic shape fails to make a complete transition. In this example, my wife, Angela, changed from her furry anthro-wolf that used some out-of-the-ordinary body shaping to a human shape and turned into a bobblehead. The problem is especially obvious when changing from a highly deformed shape like the ones used by Seawolf dragons (Web). It is seldom that others see this problem and I can cure it by teleporting to another region and back so I figure the cause is a local cache issue. Lately the viewer seems to max out my CPU usage regardless of the extant memory leak issues.

Interesting new bug

Can't Hide the Pride
A new build (semi-secret) for the Isle of Lesbos. Can't give all the details, but hopefully it will see use fairly soon. Some bugs plagued it's construction, though. As mentioned in other posts on this blog, bits would change perms when taken into Inventory or rezzed from inventory. For example, if a No Mod prim is linked to a set and the set is then changed to Mod then taken into Inventory it becomes No Mod upon being rezzed. Upon unlinking all prims and changing the perms of each the problem sometimes reoccurs.Scripts seem to be the issue, particularly ones that are No Mod despite other aspects of the prim or it's contents are full perms. I've got to create my own pose scripts. Script Me! (Web) won't work for that, nor will Scratch for SL (Web). I'm just going to have to hit the LSL Wiki (Web) and learn something, I guess.
Another possible bug is visible if you look at the extreme left of the image. It looks like an astigmatism. This pic and another with a similar issue were taken with the Release Candidate Viewer's internal snapshot tool. Only object with Glow are affected, but not all of them. In fact, only the big rainbow shows that it has Glow. Other similarly enhanced elements appear to be lifeless. Looks like I'll be searching the JIRA (Web) for like issues. I rather like it, though, and hope that eventually there will be a way to replicate it in-world.

The Downs and Downs of Second Life
Once again I ponder the "Log Ins are Disabled" message or similar ones and wonder if I should begin to devote my weekends to Real Life (iRL) rather than to Second Life®. Perhaps I should get out and enjoy the 20℉ temperature as I slog through 8" of fresh snow to see where the next anticipated 5" would look best (in Maine we are required to move snow to the prettiest spots for the pleasure of the tourists). At least iRL I can change clothes, give things to others, and spend money. As usual, database problems are the scapegoats for the regular round of weekend issues. Would it help if fewer people were in-world, putting less stress on the databases? If so, then as someone with two premium accounts I vote we limit the free account access during times of stress. Give Premium customers a perk here, Linden Labs®. Let us use the world we are paying to access.
Perhaps that wouldn't really be fair, but I'm not the first to suggest that nor will I be the last. Such a move would upset the many, many members that don't pay a subscription, especially if their in-world activities are vital to the economy. I wonder if it is possible to determine an avie's economic worth.
Ooooh. If that doesn't have the smack of discrimination to it ...
See? Gotta let me in-world so I don't wax philosophical out here in the cold.

Bugged a Blue Streak
As you can see from the pictures, something is amiss on the Grid©®™. Not entirely sure when the sim first went blue. I had started landscaping using the Imprudence viewer (Totally fabulous so check it out; Web) but quickly logged out then back in with the standard viewer for reasons that are not important to the issue. I had been using a sim-sized megaprim textured with the land contours I wanted to help me sculpt the terrain and at one point when I moved the template away and turned off water rendering I noticed that the happy little sand was not so happy.
When I found a convenient stop point I took that first picture then teleported home and all was right as rain. Until something blinked, that is, and my home took on the same sickly hue. So I took another picture and logged out entirely, being sure to clear my Web and Network caches and logged back in to the service. Interestingly, the "Last Location" snap that greeted me was fine. And my home was once again a lush green (my friend/sister/landlord made an awesome grass texture for her sim). I went back to the first sim and all was fine once again. But now I have an interesting bug. I wonder if all my de-rendering/re-rendering of the water was the cause.FYI, I'm working on that first sim because of what you might have caught in an earlier post (Web) about my new store location (Web). I'll post a new SLurl when I can. Someone's greed has put my schedule at least a week behind and has cost my Partner real world money.
