Why Can't Second Life Do This?

Using the technology behind Citadel and the slasher game Infinity Blade for iOS devices, Castlerama made it's debut today (iTunes store) just as the viewer I'm using for SL stutters and freezes and ... *sigh*

My iPad (and now my iPad2) run these games flawlessly. My 27" iMac struggles wtih SL. Yes, I know. Streaming graphics versus local storage ... yadda yadda yadda. It's my money. I want better.

Are you really asking why Second Life cannot do something photorealistic but unchanging? Every time you go through that area it will be the same, though probably with different light for times of day. Every time you go to Second Life, it is a new day, with new resident creations. The quality of our creations varies with our skills and imagination, and it is very resource-intensive because of that factor.

Absolutely true, but there may be people who would opt into that ... trade variability for quality. I can think of several builds in SL that have gone unchanged for years but would benefit by an increase in quality.
